Dr Farooq, Omar offer Fateha at Qaid Mazaar
National Conference President Farooq Abdullah and Working President and former chief minister Omar Abdullah today offered Fateha and flower tributes at Qaid Mazaar in Srinagar on the 111th Birth Anniversary of National Conference founder, Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. Party functionaries, legislators and activists offered Fateha in the commemorative function held in Srinagar and paid glowing tributes to the visionary leader and statesman, in a press statement issued to PTK, from party headquarters.
Asking party leaders, legislators and activists to reach out to the people and extent all possible help in alleviating their problems, Farooq Abdullah said the party was committed to the founder’s vision of empowering the dis empowered and safeguarding the rights of the State and its people.
“NC has always believed in struggling for the common man and we will continue to treat public-service as our guiding light. I exhort all of you to continue reaching out to the masses and offer assistance, support and solidarity in overcoming the challenges they are faced with”, Farooq Abdullah said.
Abdullah said the two Asian neighbours will have to sit and talk and put an end to the prolonged impasse. “One day the two nations will have to sit and talk to resolve their differences. There is no second way here. The two nations should restrain themselves from further igniting the tension, as both nations get adversely affected,” he said.
The National Conference leader expressed hope that PM Modi would definitely resume talks with the Asian neighbour and restore peace between the two countries. “I believe that Prime Minister of India wants that the issue between India and Pakistan should get resolved by any means. And I have a firm hope that one day he will resume dialogue with Pakistan,” said Abdullah.
During the course of his address, Farooq Abdullah said NC is willing to offer its help and support to anybody as long as their mission is to alleviate the suffering of the people and end the political turmoil in the State. “National Conference will help and support any effort to find a way out of the last twenty-five years of bloodshed and suffering”, the National Conference President said.
National Conference Working President and former chief minister Omar Abdullah as well as senior party functionaries, legislators and activists of the party’s youth, minority and women’s wings also offered Fateha and recollected the founder’s legacy of selfless leadership and sacrifice.
