Noted incarcerated human rights activist, Khurram Parvez was Wednesday slapped with Public Safety Act (PSA), sources said.
They said that Khurram was taken to police hospital (PCR) for medical check up, adding “District authorities have directed police to detain Khurram in Kot Balwal jail, Jammu.”
Pertinently, a human rights organisation, Amnesty International, has called J&K PSA-1978 a “lawless law”.
Earlier, today Khurram was shifted to Kothi Bagh Police Station Srinagar after being released from Kupwara on court orders and subsequently re-arrested by J&K Police.
Principal Sessions Judge Srinagar on Tuesday ordered Kurram’s release.
Khurram was arrested last week by Srinagar police a day after he was not allowed to travel to Geneva to attend UNHRC yearly meeting. He was sent back to Srinagar from New Delhi and arrested the other day. He was later shifted to Kupwara Jail as police had sought his ten days remand.
