“Why Didn’t They Stay Back”
“They feel safe on the waters; rather than on sand.
Why didn’t they stay back, wasn’t it their land.”
“Roaming around like nomads, and why all those moans
Why didn’t they stay back, what was wrong with their homes?”
“Men, women and children; hungry, homeless and separate
Why didn’t they stay back, why were they so desperate?”
“They were killed, raped and tortured; by someone claiming to be their own.
Why didn’t they stay back, their life was theirs and no one else’s loan.”
“They had no option, but to run away
For they would have been killed, had they decided to stay.”
“They lost everything, and their homes were destroyed.
This is where ‘humanity’ stands, with empty hearts and a huge void.”
“But they turned to us for some help, believing ‘humanity’ still has hope.
We kept them waiting at our doorsteps, and surely we are high on dope?”
“Can’t we see their agony, their pain, and all that despair?
Have we gone that far, that we are beyond repair?”
“Broken is their belief, broken is their hope.
It is too much to ask, that we won’t be able to cope.”
“Keep aside national interest, and keep aside childish fights.
Let us all come together, and for once talk human rights.”
“They should stay with us, and that should be a certainty.
For they may not be our brothers-in-faith, they are our brothers-in-humanity.”
