Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir Wednesday vehemently condemned the arrest of its leader Mujahid Shabir Falahi of Tral and others by government forces and termed these arrests as unfair and unjustified.
Statement to media issued by its press and publication bureau, said police and SOG forces detained Jama’at leader Mujahid Shabir Ahmad Falahi of Tral before noon, who was on way to home and another Jama’at associate Tajamul Islam Mir of Gulshan-Pora Tral was also arrested at Tral. Tajamul, an associate of Jama’at was erstwhile harassed by police and SOG at many occasions, the statement said.
“The government forces have unleashed a reign of terror by arresting hundreds of youth in several parts of valley under concocted, baseless and fictitious charges,” Jama’at statement said.
It is pertinent that police had earlier raided the house of Mujahid Shabir Falahi at Kamla Tral on the intervening night of 19th and 20th August, wherein forces fired bullets and pellets indiscriminately on his 85 year old father and mother resulting in severe injuries of the duo.
His father Abdul Qayoom Bhat (Rukn-e-Jama’at) who was fired hundreds of pellets on his chest and abdomen by SOG, was hospitalized for several days at SMHS Hospital in Srinagar while as his mother who were injured due to bullet which hits her arm, was discharged after a day at local health centre at Tral.
Jama’at said, “Police also arrested Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Chisti (Rukn-e-Jama’at) of Charsoo, Awantipora yesterday who has been booked under frivolous charges. Chisti was later slapped with PSA and shifted to Kathua jail which is a blatant violation of human rights.”
