Poppy straw-Fukki seized in Pulwama, 2 drug peddlers arrested

Police have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered huge quantity of Poppy straw from them in Pulwama, a statement said on Tuesday.

On a tip off regarding the transportation of poppy straw from Achan towards Lassipora on a Scooty bearing registration number 13B-9522, a police party was deputed to intercept the Scooty. At Panzran when the accused scooty rider saw the police party, he jumped off from the Scooty and fled away from the spot. Two bags weighting 16 kilograms Fukki were seized and manhunt has been launched to nab the accused.

Meanwhile, a police party of Police Post Lassipora following a tip off arrested a drug peddler identified as Abdul Qayoom Ganai son of Abdul Majeed Ganai resident of Bhatnoor and recovered 37 kilograms of poppy straw on his instance, police said.

In another case, a police party of Police Station Pulwama intercepted a load carrier bearing registration number JK13C-4316 at Tahab, Chowk. On its checking Police recovered 24 Kilograms of Poppy straw and arrested the accused identified as Rayees Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Tahab Pulwama, police said.
