Er Rasheed marshaled out, says why no PSA against criminals involved in Kishtwar riots

As soon as Legislative Assembly began its proceedings, the house witnessed ruckus over the slapping of Public Safety Act (PSA) against a Muslim leader in Jammu.

Er Rasheed got up from his seat and asked why a respectable citizen and chairman Muslim Development Forum Syed Shabir Ahmad Shah of Jevan Shah Mohalla Jammu has been booked under PSA.

Er Rasheed wanted government to make a statement on the floor of the House over his detention and sought his immediate release.

Speaker’s remarks that Shabir Shah was booked for being anti-national and anti-peace, irked Er Rasheed and he said that if police could book Shabir Shah, a prominent Muslim leader, why couldn’t it arrest and book under PSA those criminals involved in Kishtwar riots and are seen roaming free with BJP ministers from social functions to PM Office.

He accused Speaker and MLAs of demolishing the credibility and significance of State Legislature and added that State has been practically hanged over the RSS and Sang Parivar.

Er Rasheed said, “The fact of the matter is that Jammu Muslims have been left at the mercy of right wing Hindu forces and state police has been strictly directed to implement Hindutva agenda. Why doesn’t government book those involved in discretion of masques and shrines in Jammu province or those threatening Muslims by carrying out guns and other weapons during processions in Jammu.”

Er Rasheed added if government itself confesses that 119 youth have been booked in eight years in Palhalan village only, where is the scope for any political reconciliation.

He alleged terrorising Muslims, slapping PSA’s on them and handing over control of Jammu province in the hands of RSS and BJP has become the definition of so called national interest.

Er Rasheed accused that current government is forcing Muslims of the state to take path of violence as it suits radical Hindu elements and gives them a chance to use state apparatus against Muslims.

Er Rasheed had heated exchange of arguments with BJP and other MLAs who used rude and abusive language against Er Rasheed and Jammu Muslims, however on the directions of the Speaker; ER Rasheed was marshaled out of Assembly.
