Commissioner Seeks cooperation from people in this endeavor
Srinagar, Nov 22: In order to streamline the traffic management of Srinagar city and to abide by the directions passed by High Court in the OWP no 458/2003 titled Kashmir Consumer welfare forum and another V/s Commissioner Transport and others, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) in coordination with the traffic police department and the traffic advisor to Government Anuj has already identified 47 designated parallel parking places in Srinagar city viza viz Residency road, M.A road, Gawkadal, GPO Lane, Rajbagh, Magarmal bagh, Exhibition Crossing ShaheedGunj, Old Secretariat, Bemina, Karan Nagr and other areas.
The Corporation in the first instance has developed three sites at M.A road towards Women’s College left side, Karan Nagar road stretch in front of Municipal block A (Head office) and Karan Nagar main road in front of Mughal Darbar.
These parallel parking sites which have been demarcated by signage boards and road painting for general awareness and public convenience will accommodate the vehicles on hourly basis.
In this regard five Rupees for fifteen minutes parking would be charged against a proper receipt.
Initially, SMC shall look after these designated parking places for a period of two months and the same shall be outsourced once the multiple parallel parking as already identified will be operational in the city said Commissioner SMC, Riyaz Ahmed Wani.
He has further sought Cooperation from the people in this endeavor.
