Muneez Javed Mir, a student of tenth standard, returned home today evening.
Kanjinag village in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday erupted in joy after a tenth standard student returned home following his alleged kidnapping last night.
Muneez Javed Mir, a student of tenth standard, returned home today evening.
“Muneez Javed Mir was ‘kidnapped’ by some unknown persons who took him to a nearby mountain where they sprayed something into his face, knocking him unconscious,” a close relative of Mir said.
As soon as he reached his home, the entire village broke into celebration. He was later taken to nearby hospital for check-up.
Police, on the other hand, claimed that after strenuous efforts, the missing boy was recovered from an orchard at Kanjinag village. “His family was informed immediately after we received the information about him,” said Station House Officer Awantipora, Nazir Ahmed.
Earlier in the day, the villagers and family of Mir staged a protest against his alleged disappearance. The protesters blocked the Tral-Awantipora road, hampering the movement of traffic.
They alleged that Mir was kidnapped from the courtyard of his house around 6:45 pm last evening.
