Five civilians were injured after army opened fire on protesters while they were chasing an alleged braid chopper in Pahalgam area of Anantnag district.
Reports said that locals of Sofipora in Sallar village of Walerhama in Pahalgam were chasing an alleged braid chopper who as per locals went inside an army vehicle. The reports said that the locals pelted stones on the army vehicle and the soldiers responded with firing on them in which five protesters sustained injuries.
The injured were shifted to nearby hospital and are undergoing treatment. Massive protests erupted in the area after firing incident. Officials meanwhile said that all the injured are stable and are being given all kind of medical treatment for quick recovery.
Police meanwhile said that today at about 1130 hours, some persons stopped a passenger bus near Sheeri in Baramulla district and forcibly de-boarded three army men and manhandled them. “The Army men posted in Kitchama,Sheeri were on way to Baramulla to get search lights repaired. FIR has been registered in the matter and investigation taken up,” a police official said.
