50 girl students of Pahari hostel felicitated.
District administration organized a grand Diwali Fete to celebrate the Festival of Light with the community, here this evening.
Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Vice Chairperson, J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Pahari Speaking People, legislators, Pardeep Sharma and Vibod Gupta, DDC, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, SSP, Yugal Kumar Manhas, ACR Abdul Qayoom Mir, CPO Abdul Hamid, CEO RDA Dr. Tahir Firdous, SDM Kartar Singh, CEO Lal Hussain, CMO Dr. Suresh Sharma, DIO NIC Sanjay Puri, Dy. Registrar Cooperatives, Waqar Talib, DSWO Dr. Abdul Khabir, DIO Mohd Shafait, AD FCS&CA, Javid Iqbal, Tehsildar Salam Din, besides other officers, prominent citizens, leading personalities from media and other walks of life and locals in large number were present on the occassion.
The Diwali Feté, first of its kind in the district witnessed massive public participation.
The participants were enthralled by local cultural troupe led by Pardeep Khanna/Khursheed Rather & party and artists from song and drama division of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
The cultural programme was based on the theme of communal harmony and community participation.
Meanwhile, over 50 girl students of Pahari Hostel Rajouri were also felicitated on the occasion. Items of basic utility like apparels, shoes etc along with sweets were distributed under a targeted and sustained _Beti Bachao Beti Padhao_ campaign launched by the district administration.
Along with repeated efforts of the district administration to effect empowerment of women through convergent interventions at various levels, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri has pressed for innovative interventions under BBBP to turnaround the disturbingly skewed sex ratio in the district.
Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Vice Chairperson, J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Pahari Speaking People and MLC Vibod Gupta lauded the district administration for organizing such an impressive programme on the occasion of Diwali and commended DDC Rajouri for launching and running a sustained awareness programme to save the girl child.
