Massive searches have been launched by Army in the jungles of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district following reports of fresh infiltration by militants.
According to top sources, army’s 1/3 GR along with 21 Battalion of Border Security Force (BSF) launched massive searches in Teen Behak area of Keran Sector in Kupwara after reports of infiltration by at least 5/6 militants at Siraj Post.
“Following the reports, army and BSF launched the searches today morning and also fired some warning shots but there was no retaliation. The search operation is underway and a tight cordon is being maintained to intercept militants,” the sources added.
Separately, army has launched searches at Guddaji Kalaroos in Kupwara. “The army’s 44 RR and 17 RR are carrying out searches. The army’s 4 para has also been pressed into service to locate the militants who are believed to be present in this area,” the sources said, adding a similar operation is underway at Sonapandi area of Machil in Kupwara district.
“There are reports of militant infiltration in at least two places including at Keran. To intercept those militants, the operations have been launched since yesterday and are underway. But so far no militant has been intercepted,” the sources added.
