Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti waved the flag as a landing signal for the first flight which landed here at Srinagar airport this morning.
She was flanked by the secretary Tourism and floriculture Farooq Ahmad Shah, Director Tourism Kashmir Mehmood Ahmad Shah and the top management of Air Asia India operations.
The secretary Tourism termed it one of the big leap in connecting Kashmir through this affordable budgeted international airline and hoped that this will increase seat capacity as well as the flying options for the potential visitors to this Himalayan state and should result in the reduced airfare.
He further added that Tourism Department under the leadership of CM is aggressively promoting the destination Jammu and Kashmir and doing all possible efforts to make it a round the year affordable destination.
Farooq Ahmad Shah said that the recent promotional programs have shown positive results in Delhi and across the country and people are keen to visit in summers after the winters.
Mehmood Ahmad shah also termed this initiative as the best one as an additional facility for the potential tourists which can ultimately help in attracting more visitors for our state particularly Kashmir. (KNS)
