Locals staged a dharna on Srinagar-Leh Highway demanding action against the employee.
The falling healthcare system in the state has apparently accounted for yet another young life. This time a local Imam (Priest) died after the ambulance driver couldn’t reach to pick him from Public health center to Sub district Hospital for special treatment in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal District.
The deceased youth was identified as 22 year old Zahoor Ahmad Dar S/O Ab Salam Dar a resident of Chatargul Kangan.
On Sunday morning Zahoor Ahmad lead Fajar Prayers at a local Masjid and after prayers he took way towards home but he fell in a water body outside Masjid a local resident told .
He was immediately shifted to Public health centre at Chatargul where from he would have been taken to sub district hospital for special treatment but their was no driver available in Health Centre.
Protesting the apathetic attitude of the ambulance staff, the family members, and the locals staged a dharna on Srinagar-Leh Highway demanding action against the employee.
Relatives and other residents accompanying dead body closed National Highway at main market Kangan demanding strict punishment to the driver and other employees of the health center who according to them were not available at the sub center.
Following the protest a Police party from Police Station kangan reached the spot and assured protesters to provide full help.
“The driver has been placed under suspension immediately and we are looking seriously this case, who so ever found guilty will be dealt strictly” BMO kangan Dr Shabir Ahmad Awan told.
Locals have alleged that a week ago another Critical Patient was taken to Bone and Joint Hospital Srinagar in Private Vehicle due to Non Availability of a Driver at Trauma Hospital Kangan.
Meanwhile locals have appealed Health Minister Jammu and Kashmir to look into the matter as this was not the ist ever case.
