CE advises use power judiciously
People in Kashmir valley are witnessing hard times in this winter, due to grave shortage of power supply. Residents of Srinagar and many other parts of valley complained about frequent power cuts and low voltage.
Areas of Srinagar city like; Downtown, Bemina and outskirts called KNS office that, with frequent power cuts and low voltage they are facing tough times due to the prevailed harsh winter.
“With unscheduled power cuts and low voltage we are facing many inconvenience, people in these days are more relying on electricity,” Said a resident of Bemina area.
Another resident from Rainawari said that, they are warning the authorities to improve power situation else they will come on roads.
“Our expensive electric devices got damaged due to low voltage. We pay electric dues on time but in back we are being cheated particularity in winters when it is much needed”.
Similar situation is in rural area of Kashmir where residents of many areas like; Anantanag, Pulwama, Ganderbal and in north Kashmir like Baramullah and Kupwara are complaining of erratic power supply, causing inconvenience to them in the biting cold conditions besides troubling students who are preparing for various examinations.
They said despite paying huge electric bills department failed to provide sufficient electricity “We are regularly paying our electricity bills, but fed up with PDD,”
The inhabitants from many areas said that old electric poles and damaged LT lines have added the problem. “Despite requests to the concerned authorities to change the damaged lines and poles but nothing changed,” adding that these broken wires and poles are unsafe for them.
While talking with Chief Engineer Power Development Department (PDD), Shahnaz Ghoni, She said that they are trying best to provide maximum supply to the people and appealed people to use power genuinely. Adding that, 100 percent of electricity supply in Kashmir has been restored.
“The supply is being properly maintained in all areas of Kashmir and our men are working round the clock to restore the damaged system,” CE PDD Kashmir, Shahnaz Ghoni told KNS.
She said, “I appeal the people that in these hard times please use electricity judiciously”. (KNS)
