Family of Manzoor Ahmad Dar who was allegedly subjected to forced disappearance fifteen years ago, Thursday said that they would continue fight to seek justice.
Talking to KNS, Bilkees Manzoor, daughter of Manzoor Ahmad Dar said, “My father was picked by RR officer, Major Kishore Malhotra in the intervening night of 18-19 15 years back from home since then my father is disappeared.”
She said that the Special Investigation team (SIT) which probed the disappeared case concluded that the “victim could have died in army custody.”
The family said, “Despite passing 15 years into custodial disappearance of my father justice eludes to her family.”
Bilkees said that the fight for their justice has not ended. “We will go on unless the justice will be delivered. We demand the criminal proceedings must be initiated against the Malhotra who has been named for the disappearance of my father,” Bilkees told KNS correspondent.
She informed that on Jan 19 last year, a funeral prayer in absentia was held after 14 years. “I since then have reiterated that the fight to get justice will continue. His soul will get solace by the funeral prayers but our fight will continue till justice not delivered,” the family said.
The family appealed the Supreme Court ‘to pass the verdict and punish the accused for the crime he had committed’.
Recalling that her father was picked up on the pretext of questioning; Bilkees said that the family has been to every jail and torture centre in Kashmir in search of Manzoor. “Our residence in Rawalpora, Srinagar has been raided several times. We have been harassed, we have been helpless, but we are rendered choice less,” she said, adding that they event went to Tihar Jail.
The daughter has been relentlessly searching for her father, along with the family. “Let there be no other Bilkees who has to search for her father for decades. We have never let our hopes die that he is no longer alive,” the daughter, in her late twenties, said.
It is worth to mention here that Manzoor is survived by two sons, two daughters and wife, Jana begum. (KNS)
