Accuses Govt of ‘adopting double standard’
The opposition parties on Monday staged protest in the legislative against the government for ‘adopting double standard’ on the issue of compensation to those killed during 2016 uprising in the Valley.
The opposition members led by National Conference (NC) legislator, Ali Mohammad Sagar demanded, “The government must clear whether it will grant compensation of Rs five Lakh each to the next of kin of those killed in the last year’s five month long unrest in the Valley.”
He said that though the chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti had announced that the government will provide compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the people killed in the unrest but at the same time, BJP, coalition partner of the government is objecting to it.
All the opposition members stormed into the well of the House and chanted slogans like ‘Hamaray Sawalon ka Jawab Do’ and ‘Dohri policy nai chalay gi’.
Following the announcement made by CM regarding compensation of Rs five Lakh each to the next of kin of those killed in the last year’s five month long unrest in the Valley, BJP, the coalition partner in its executive meeting held yesterday passed a resolution that it would oppose any move of the state government which “encourage the anti-national elements and demoralize the nationalistic forces”.
