It may sound surprising, but is a fact that a tainted officer has been assigned a work order of above 10 crore in one of the prestigious public sector undertakings.
According to sources the then General Manger in one of the corporations was elevated out of turn as MD by the then minister of state, industries and commerce surpassing all norms. After one and a half years the said officer was found not performing properly and the corporation had a nosedive in so far as overall progress was concerned.
During his tenure as In- Chagre Managing Director, many cases were surfaced of his malpractices, therefore the government declared him as a non performer, demoted him back as General Manager.
Now as per the sources it is reported that despite of he being declared as non performer, the said official was designated as Director Projects and was given the construction above 10 crores to be handled by him exclusively by the orders of Managing Director of one of the prestigious corporations. Sources said that the work is been executed under the supervision of the said officer, Now Director projects without ascertaining the correctness and quality of the work. It is surprising that once declared tainted and non performer by the government, how an officer can has been assigned the job of such magnitude,” said one of the insider.
The sources further revealed that assignment of 10 crore above work should be investigated properly as to how a tainted officer handles the construction works attracting sensitivity. It is reported that such job is being done at exhibition ground Jammu without any support of JE’s, AEE’s and executive engineers.
It is astonishing that the work is being handled by the officer singularly as one man show. Sources said that as per the R&B guidelines, the work has to be monitored by team of engineers form JE to superintend engineers with also the support building construction norms.
It is further reported that the construction work, singularly handled by the said officer is at a very slow pace and may not meet the scheduled period fixed for the job.
