Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh Monday said there were no chances of imposing governor’s rule in Jammu and Kashmir since the current state government was taking all ‘effective measures’ to restore normalcy in the state.
Addressing the two-day Regional Editors Conference from north and northeast states here at Chandigarh, Singh in his inaugural speech said that the Jammu and Kashmir government is doing its best to restore the peace in the Valley, which is witnessing an unrest since July 09, a day after hizb militant Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter in south Kashmir.
Rajnath said that the situation in the Valley is ‘improving while the state government and security agencies are getting cooperation from the common people in Kashmir.’ He said that there is no need or consideration of imposing the Governor’s rule in the state as the ‘‘government there is doing a great job in normalizing the situation’’.
While reiterating that India has conducted surgical strike in Pak territory, Rajnath said that strike was pre-emptive action against Pakistan. Rajnath also said that India was ready to help Pakistan take action against militants in Pakistan, including in Pakistani-administered Kashmir. Pakistan should close down the “factory of terrorism”, Rajnath Singh said. Referring to the army’s ‘surgical strikes’ on Pakistani territory, he said it was a “pre-emptive action against Pakistan”. “India does not have any ill will against the people of Pakistan. Pakistan has adopted terrorism as its state policy and harbours terrorists,” he said.
“That is the reason it has been isolated not only in South Asia but also in the world. “”India is ready to help Pakistan in taking action against terrorists in Pakistan, including Pakistan-administered Kashmir,” Rajnath Singh said.
Meanwhile, Rajnath said that the sealing of border will be completed upto 2018.
