Start Inter Party –Inter regional dialogue on Kashmir : Shafiq Mir
Expressing his grave concern about the continued uncertainty and unrest in Kashmir which has entered 96th consecutive day, chairman All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference, Shafiq Mir has said that instead of writing “love Letters” to separatist leaders, Jammu and Kashmir government should start a serious dialogue process between different mainstream political parties and between different regions of the state antry to find out a consensus on the issue due to which the uncertainty prevails in the state of Jammu and Kashmir for the past nearly seven decades . He was reacting over an open letter written by Jammu Kashmir education Minister, Naeem Akhter to hardliner separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Tuesday seeking his help for opening of government run schools and other educational institutions in the state which have been shut for the past more than three months due to the unrest in valley . Mir said, such love letters have only given credibility to the separatist leaders and have degraded the role and viewpoint of pro-India and mainstream forces in the state .
In a detailed statement issued here in winter capital, Mir, who heads Panchayat leaders body in the state of Jammu and Kashmir said that this is not first time when state government has begged before separatist leaders to help in maintaining peace and law and order in the state . Not only at the level of ministers and party functionaries, even chief minister of the state Miss Mehbooba Mufti has also appealed many times to the separatist leaders and sought their help to continue on the chair which is disgusting and self explanatory that the government has lost its authority and control over the state . Mir said instead of begging for peace before the separatist leaders government must initiate a serious dialogue process among the different Pro- India and mainstream political parties and groups in the state of Jammu and Kashmir and must try to find a common minimum solution point of the issues which is acceptable to all regions and opinions of the state . Not only this, even the government of the day must start a inter- regional dialogue between different regions of the state having different point of view on the issue . tThereafter only, the separatist leaders can also be invited for their point of view ,said Shafiq Mir who is also state spokesperson of Jammu Kashmir Pardesh Congress Committee.
Asking the government of Jammu and Kashmir to stop appeasement policy towards a particular group of separatist leaders and start meaningful Inter- party and inter-regional dialogue process in the state and see the possibility of the consensus point where a suitable and acceptable solution can be found . For this, Mir said, government must constitute a Kashmir dialogue committee which will initiate discussion with all shades of society including, students, academicians , poets , trade union leaders and political parties and report and finding of this committee be discussed in the state assembly to see the possible solution of the most vexed issue .
Expressing his anguish and displeasure over the way state government was dealing with the present situation, Shafiq Mir said that at one hand the government has launched an arrest campaign in the state and on the other hand it writes ‘ love letters’ to the separatist leaders, what does it mean? Asks Mir.
