“Aapne seriously mehnat ki, maine nahin ki. Maine class 12th mein padhaai kam ki aur golgappe zyada khaaye,” Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti told students while recalling her high school days.
She was addressing a gathering of medical students who were applying for higher-education courses in the state after laying the foundation stone of a postgraduate medical college in Jammu.
(You have seriously worked hard, I haven’t. I studied less and ate more ‘Golgappas’ in class 12),” the chief minister was quoted as saying. However, the CM made the statement on a lighter note while trying to emphasize that the students of the present day are hardworking.
To this former chief minister Omar Abdullah tweeted: “Takes a different kind of person to continue joking about her misspent youth after hearing 2 people have died today.”
Mehbooba also said the doctors’ profession is a noble profession. “My parents wanted me to be a doctor,” she was quoted saying.
She said the new medical colleges coming up at Baramulla, Anantnag, Rajouri, Doda and Kathua will not only strengthen the medical infrastructure, but also give a big boost to tertiary healthcare and medical education in the region. (PTK)
