Sitting on the last bed of the Ophthalmology ward, is a young boy. Yasir Gulzar is a resident of Boingam, Shopian. The only brother of 3 sisters, the lone bread earner of the family.
He is hit in his left eye with pellets. The area around the eye is bruised and has turned light purple in color. When asked if he can see from his left eye, he replied waving his hand infront of his eye “ bas hez chay hish che yevaan bozne” (“I can only see shadows”)
Yasir earns his livelihood working at a Medical Shop in Shopian.
He was on his way to work when police personnel came out of nowhere and shot pellets at the people walking on road.
Yasir while reviling the horrific incident says the police came out of an ambulance, They were hiding in there and waiting for people, and when they saw people walking on the road they came out and shot pellets targeting at our eyes.
Every bed in Ophthalmology ward has a story that tears your heart apart.
