Police on Sunday took the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah, who is detained in police station Raj Bagh from over two months, to an undisclosed location.
In a statement issued to press, a DFP spokesperson said a large contingent of police force on Sunday took Shah to an undisclosed location and as such neither his (Shah’s) family nor the Freedom Party was given any information regarding the move.
“Shabir Ahmad Shah had been under house arrest since last 30 months and was arrested in February 2016 after which he was released in April. Then he was again placed under house arrest and on July 12, was arrested and lodged in police station Raj Bagh. Now, he has been taken to some unknown place,” he said.
The spokesperson said the continuous detention of Shabir Ahmad Shah has taken a toll on his health condition which is only deteriorating with each passing day.
Expressing concern over Shabir Ahmad Shah’s arrest, the spokesperson said the pro-freedom leaders won’t succumb to such arbitrary measures and will continue to fight for the rights of the people of Jammu Kashmir till their last breath.
