Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today appealed public and authorities to allow free passage to ambulances and hospital staff.
President DAK Dr Nisar ul Hassan in a statement earnestly requested public and authorities to ensure free and safe movement of ambulances and medical staff.
In order to save sick and wounded, it is imperative to facilitate hassle-free movement of ambulances and medical staff.
In the past eight weeks, there have been number of attacks on ambulances and medical personnel by security forces.
Also, some miscreants are targeting ambulances and staff to defame public and demean the cause.
Such incidents of disruption of medical services are costing lives which is unacceptable.
It is the duty of society to identify these elements and expose those under whose directions they are doing it.
On Friday, at 4.45 pm, an ambulance ferrying hospital staff of PHC Qaimoh was attacked by some unscrupulous elements at Harnag Anantnag.
Ambulance was damaged and staff was beaten.
In another episode, on Wednesday at 7.45 pm Dr Arif Mir Medical Officer of PHC Ashpora Langate was attacked by some mischievous elements at Umarabad Zainakote after he was coming back from duty.
Dr Javid Bhat, Physician Specialist of SDH Sopore was beaten on Tuesday by some elements at Model Town Sopore while he was returning from emergency duty.
These elements are targeting medical personnel with a design.
Doctors and paramedical staff have been working tirelessly in hospitals from day one of unrest to save lives and it is obligatory on society to protect them from these elements.
