SMC to launch an extensive sanitation campaign ahead of Shabe Qadar, Eid-ul-fitr

Srinagar Municipal Corporation is going to launch an extensive sanitation campaign.

This was decided in a meeting held by Bashir Ahmed Khan Commissioner SMC with all the senior Municipal Officers including the ward officers with the aim to keep special focus on forth coming   Jumiat-ul-Vida, Shabe Qadar and Eid-ul- Fitr, SMC said in a statement issued here.

During the course of the meeting, Commissioner  passed on directions to launch Continuous Upgraded Sanitation at various shrines, mosques  including Peer Dastagear Sahib, Jamia Masjid, Eidgah , Shaahi Hamdaan, Naksh band sahib, Hazrat bal, Wousi sahib particularly the toilets and washrooms at these places shall be thoroughly cleaned up  ahead of Jumiat-ul-vida, Shabe Qadar and Eid-ul-Fitr.

The adjoining areas lanes, by lanes connecting to these religious places shall qualitatively be sanitized said Bashir Ahmed Khan.

While directing the entire sanitation staff to put all men and machinery into service round the clock including several fumigators, compactors, robots and garbage lifters, He said that all the machinery including hopper vehicles, sweeping machines, robots shall be pressed into service and these places shall be thoroughly cleaned up with lime powder, fumigation and other disinfectants and other necessary arrangements to be looked into for the upcoming festival of EID-UL-Fitr.

Directions were also passed on to set up Municipal camps at various shrines and mosques  for the convenience of public during the important days of Shabe Qadar and Jumait ul vida so that the worshippers thronging to these religious  place on these different eve’s shall be  well facilitated.

While stressing on street lights Commissioner SMC  directed that all the defunct street lights shall be made functional with the installation of more street light as required at the important  places, so that public does not face inconvenience during the worship hours.

Instructions were also passed on to keep sanitation staff active on the eve of Eid so that people can move freely in a clean and viable atmosphere.

Khan also directed Health Officer  to conduct regular market checks and ensure that quality and hygienic  eatables including  bakery, poultry  and other eatables  is being sold everywhere in the market to ensure food safety  among consumers.

Further instructions were passed to S.E Drainage to keep all the mobile pumps in a state of readiness to cater to water logging issues in case of any evantuality.

Meanwhile, the enforcement wing was also directed to take special care of anti encroachment drives in order to ensure smooth flow of traffic and pedestrians movement.
