The arrests come on the eve of a joint shutdown called by the pro-freedom leaders including Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani, Malik and Mirwaiz.
Police on Wednesday arrested Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chief Yasin Malik from his office in Srinagar, said a spokesman of the outfit.
He said Malik was arrested from his office in Abi Guzar locality of Srinagar.
“A large posse of policemen arrived at the JKLF office situated at Abi Guzar and detained Malik. He was lodged at Kothi Bagh police station,” said the spokesman.
Earlier in the day, Hurriyat (M) chiarman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was placed under house arrest.
The arrests come on the eve of a joint shutdown called by the pro-freedom leaders including Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani, Malik and Mirwaiz.
The trio has also called for peaceful protests after Friday prayers against the proposed Sainik and Pandit colonies in valley.
