Large number of students from different colleges assembled at Press Enclave and demanding immediate roll back of fee hike, raised anti-Kashmir University slogans.
President AJKSU, Mr.Syed Tajammul Imran said that,” The menace has it’s origin in the choice-based credit system of curriculum recently introduced in the higher education. We have several students who are working as labourers to support their families besides pursuing education.”
Carrying placards and banners, the protesting students said that Kashmir University has made three-fold examination fee hike. “Earlier I was supposed to pay Rs 1150 but now I am asked to pay Rs 3375. This is sheer injustice towards the students.
Instead of minting money from the poor students, the Kashmir University should find ways and means to improve the standard of education,” said Tufail Ahmed, a Bachelor of Engineering student.
Earlier the students had boycotted classes and staged protest in front of Dean Students Welfare and then outside vice chancellors chamber, where they chanted slogans against the administration.
“The students expressed grave concern as the fee has been hiked upto 900% for some specific facilities/services”, the report said.
