Police on Thursday morning barred the entry of several vehicles, carrying essential supplies like milk and veggies, into city.
Witnesses said that around three dozen vehicles carrying milk and vegetables remained stationed at police station Parimpora on the outskirts of Srinagar city.
They said that police stopped the vehicles, which ferry the supply from villages and peripheries to the city population which has remained under siege for the 41st consecutive day on Thursday.
“Police stopped all the vehicles carrying milk or vegetables for the city at Parimpora. I am stuck here since 6 am,” said a milkman over phone.
Another vegetable supplier said their vehicles carrying vegetable supplies were also barred to moving ahead of the Parimpora police station.
When asked why the supplies were being stopped, a senior police official said that they have been ordered to enforce strict curfew. “…and we are obeying those orders.”
