Srinagar, : Three army soldiers were killed even as army and police continued with a massive search operation to trace militants in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, officials said.
“On specific inputs regarding presence of (militants) on higher reaches of Halan in Kulgam, operations launched by Security Forces on 04 Aug 23. In exchange of firing with (militants), three personnel sustained injuries and later succumbed (sic.),” army said in a tweet late last night.
It said search operations are continuing.
Officials said that gunfight ensued after the militants fired upon an army party. The fire, they said, three Army soldiers were injured.
They said a tight cordon was maintained throughout the night and the search operation was launched on Saturday morning to trace the militants whose number is said to be three. (GNS)
