Udhampur : Sixty-two people were injured, five of them critically, after a footbridge collapsed during Baisakhi celebrations in Udhampur district on Friday afternoon, officials said.
They told GNS that that a steel footbridge collapsed at Beni Sangam in Bain village in Udhampur when a large number of locals were over it in connection with Baisakhi festival celebrations in the area.
Among 62 injured people, 25 were shifted to the district hospital and five “critically” wounded to Government Medical College Hospital Jammu.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner, Krittika Jyotsna visited District Hospital Udhampur to assess the medical facilities being provided to those injured in the Beni Sangam Foot Bridge collapse in Chenani block.
The deputy Commissioner interacted with the injured and instructed hospital authorities to provide the best treatment to the victims.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that district administration is monitoring the medical care being provided to the victims. (GNS)
