Srinagar: Media Council Kashmir delegation led by its Organising Secretary Iqbal Ahmed met with BJP General Secretary Organisation Sh.Ashok Koul and BJP spokes person and Social Media Prabhari Sh. Abhijeet Jasrotia and submitted a memorandum pertaining to demands of the Press Club, journalist fraternity, newspapers etc.
Sh Ashok Koul and Sh. Abhijeet Jasrotia gave very patient hearing to the delegation and read the memorandum point-wise. He assured that all the geniune issues raised by the Media Council Kashmir will be looked into.
Pointing out that several States have initiated series of welfare measures for the journalists including monthly pension after 60 years of age, free travel in buses and metros, accidental insurance, welfare fund etc, the Club delegation urged the BJP General Secretary Organisation to consider grant of similar facilities besides others to the journalists in Jammu and Kashmir.
“As Jammu and Kashmir is now a Union Territory, the Government should grant DAVP rates for Government advertisements to newspapers ,Early empanelment of newspapers ,residential and official accomodation of Media persons and regulation of registered news portals ,news gatherings and then grant of Government advertisements to them at par with other Union Territories.
Meanwhile BJP Spokes person and Social Media Prbhari Jammu and Kashmir Mr Abhijeet Jasrotia has played an important and vital role and supported Media council Kashmir for their long pending geniune demands and raised the issue of journalist of kashmir with the concerned quarters and assured them that their genuine issues and demands would be taken up for examination and early redressal.
