Srinagar : Police’s Special Investigating Unit (SIU) on Tuesday produced chargesheet before Court of NIA Srinagar related to killing of Sub Inspector (M) Farooq Ahmad of Samboora on June 18.
The police said that the chargesheet in the case (FIR No. 71/2022) at Police Station Pampore was filed against accused Owais Mushtaq Gani son of Mushtaq Ahmad Ganie of Samboora and killed militant Majid Nazir (Al-Badr) of Ladhoo Pampore. Besides, challan against two juvenile accused (name withheld) was produced before the court of Juvenile Justice Board Pulwama for their involvement in the instant case, police said in a statement to GNS.
“During the course of investigation, various suspects were called for questioning from time to time and on 24 June this year one suspect namely Owais Mushtaq Ganie confessed his involvement in the commission of crime,” it claimed.
On his disclosure, police said, two juveniles (name withheld) were held for their active involvement and role in the killing of the police officer along with one active militant of Al-Badr, Majid Nazir.
“During the course of investigation it came to forth that all the three accused were active (militant) associates of Al-Badar and were in constant touch with the active (militant) Majid Nazir Wani who gave them arms and ammunition to carry out the attacks on soft targets.”
“It is pertinent to mention that said Majid Nazir involved in the commission of instant crime was eliminated by Police/SF in an encounter at Tujan area of Pulwama on 21/06/2022.”
On the basis of evidence gathered prima-facie offences punishable under relevant sections of law for commission of instant crime has been established, the police claimed. “The investigation of the case concluded with chargesheet against the four accused.” (GNS)
