Rajouri : Police have arrested a Bihari labourer for killing his counterpart from the eastern state in Rajouri district by hammer over the suspicion of him having illicit relations with his wife, official said.
Addressing a press conference, SSP Rajouri Mohammad Aslam said that on November 18, an information was received that an unidentified body is lying under mysterious circumstances in a drain in Ward No.02 of Nowshera near Bella Colony.
The body was taken into possession and injury marks were found on body after which police accordingly registered a murder case at police station Nowshera and started investigation.
The scene of crime was immediately preserved and forensic team was called for examination and collection of evidences, he said according to GNS.
Weapon of Offence “Hammer” was recovered from wild growth nearby the site of incident and other material evidences were lifted from the spot through FSL team, he said.
The deceased man was identified as of Vishal Kumar son of Balister Mahato of Kasdora, Bangra, District Siwan, Bihar; at present W.No.2, Nowshera.
After post mortem, he said, the body was handed over to legal heirs for last rites and police team during investigation rounded up over a dozen suspects who had been in contact with the deceased before his murder while footages of CCTV cameras installed at multiple locations in Nowshera Town were examined in identifying these suspects.
SDPO Nowshera, Tussif Ahmed , SHO Nowshera, Rajesh Jasrotia assisted by PSIs Arun Singh, Manish Singh and Vishal Kumar and other officials of PS Nowshera rounded up suspects for questioning and zeroed in on one suspect namely Satyendra Mahato son of Lagan Mahato of Belsand, District Gopalganj, Bihar who had committed this heinous crime, he said.
“The accused admitted his commission of crime and disclosed of having suspicion that deceased had illicit relations with his wife,” he said, adding, “The accused further admitted of having committing the murder by using “Hammer” as weapon of Offence.”
Police Team has also recovered mobile phone of deceased on confessional disclosure of accused, he added. (GNS)
