Srinagar : Suspected militants on Thursday fired upon and injured two outside labourers, one from Bihar and second from Nepal, in Wanihama Dialgam area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
“At about 1900hrs, Police received information about a (militant) crime incident at Wanihama area of Anantnag. Senior police officers reached at the spot,” a police spokesperson said in a statement to GNS .
“Preliminary investigation revealed that (militants) had fired upon two outside labourers, working at a private School (SAPS) at Wanihama area of Anantnag.”
They have been identified as Bekuu Ram of Bihar and Tej Bahadur of Nepal. In this incident, both the labourers received gunshot injuries and were immediately shifted to hospital for treatment, police said. “This is a cowardice and inhumane act of (militancy). The victims were called by (militants) to come out to engage in a work. Once both came out, (militants) fired upon them with pistol,” said the ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar in a tweet. “We are investigating on top priority. Culprit would be brought to justice soon.”
Meanwhile, officials said, police and security forces have cordoned off whole area to nab the attackers.(GNS)
