Srinagar 03 August: A Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit militant from Pakistan was killed by security forces in an encounter in North Kashmir’s Chandaji area of Bandipora on Tuesday morning.
As per officials, the encounter started in Chandaji area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora on Tuesday early morning after specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area. On heading towards the suspected spot, a joint team of Police, 26 Assam Rifles & CRPF were fired upon by the holed up militants, which triggered the encounter, as per the official.
“In the encounter, a foreign LeT militant Babar Ali who had escaped from the Shokbaba operation on 24 July was killed at Chandajji forest,” said the officials, adding, “Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including 01 AK-rifle, 02 AK-Magazines, 40 AK-rounds, 01 pouch, 01 wireless set and 01 medicine bag were recovered from the site of encounter.”
As usual, after the operation, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar congratulated the joint team of Police/SF for successfully tracking down the militant and conducting the operation in a professional manner without any collateral damage.
It is pertinent to mention that the Bandipora encounter came after the one fought in South Kashmir in which a Pakistani militant, Lamboo and his associate were killed, duo were said to be conspirators of 2019 Pulwama attack. (KNB)
