Srinagar, Oct 09: Police on Friday arrested two Ward Officers of Srinagar Municipal Corporation for allegedly assaulting and threatening Joint Commissioner Planning of the Corporation.
A police official said that they took strong cognizance of the matter and has registered a case under FIR No. 122/2020 under section 353 IPC against Ward Officers Riyaz Ahmad and Irshad Ahmad, in Police Station Shaheed Gunj on the basis of complaint of Joint Commissioner/Planning Ghulam Hassan.
He said that police have taken the duo into custody and have kept them in Shaheed Gunj Police Station.
Earlier Joint Commissioner Planning had alleged that two Ward Officers have threatened him to grant illegal permissions for constructing their houses in Hyderpora, outskirts of Srinagar.
Hassan had also alleged that the duo have been organizing protest against him in SMC.
KNS has learnt from its sources that WO Riyaz Ahmad is constructing his house in Hyderpora locality without having a proper permission from authorities. They said that for smooth construction of his house, he started threatening the officer for providing him building permission.
Earlier the said Ward Officer had claimed that he has acquired the permission from concerned office but after complaints poured in from the locality, court stayed his construction till further orders. (KNS)
