Srinagar, Apr 11 :The
Authorities here in Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences
(SKIMS) Soura and Chest Disease Hospital, Srinagar claimed to have
cured 16 positive coronavirus patients and maintained that all other,
undergoing treatment are doing well and responding to the treatment.
The Authorities also said that patients were recovering fast while
repeat test of good number of patients have already came negative.
“We have successfully treated three positive coronavirus patients and
all of them have been discharged after following repeat tests twice,”
Medical Superintendent SKIMS Soura, Dr Farooq Jan informed.
He however said that for precautionary measures they have been put in the administrative quarantine center.
Dr Jan further said that till date SKIMS Soura received 364 suspected
corona patients. “We have received 364 suspected persons and
subsequently discharged 306 of them. At present we have more than 30
positive Coronavirus patients in the hospital,” he said.
There were sick patients but they responded the treatment. “The
condition of some Covid-19 positive patient deteriorated recently but
thank God, they recovered sooner than expected. Otherwise, we were
planning to put them on a ventilator but later, we decided not to as
there condition improved,” the MS.
He said that all the positive patients in SKIMS are responding to treatment and there is no need to be panic.
Similarly, at the Chest Disease hospital Srinagar, so far 13 patients
have been cured after they were tested positive for the deadly virus.
“We have cured 13 people who were positive for coronavirus. There
tests were done thrice and results were negative,” Superintendent CD
hospital Dr Saleem Tak said.
He
said that all these virus free patients now have been sent to the
Nursing home Srinagar and authorities will test them again before
allowing them to go home.
He
praised the doctors for what he called “tremendous job”. ‘Our doctors
were very much dedicated, so were paramedical staff,” he maintained.
The medical superintendent however said that the hospital is treating the 12 positive patients and that all were doing well.
It is to mention here that the authorities had said that none of the
patients having Coronavirus infection in Kashmir have been put on
ventilator or admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
“Fortunately we have no coronavirus patient on ventilator or in the ICU. All patients are stable,” authorities had said.
Ventilators are required for Covid-19 patients who develop acute
respiratory distress syndrome when the lungs are filled with fluids
that make it difficult to breathe.
“A ventilator is used when lungs are filled with fluid. Such patients
find it very difficult to be oxygenated in a normal way. The only way
to manage is to put the patient on ventilator assistance,” said the
doctor. (KINS)
