Law and order situation has shown a considerable improvement, want to keep peace intact: ADGP Munir Khan
Srinagar, April 30: After the graph of stone pelting and deteriorating law and order situations perturbed the police and other security arrangements since the killing of new age militant commander Burhan Wani in July 2016 , saw a steep rise, the security agencies in Kashmir today have something to cheer up.
The overall law and order situation has shown a significant improvement while as the local militant recruitment has gradually been curbed and stone pelting incidents have declined by 60 percent Kashmir.
“Yes there has been a considerable improvement in overall situation in Kashmir. Law and order situation has improved and stone pelting incidents have witnessed a dip,” Additional Director General of Police Law and Order, Security, Munir Khan said.
The internal assessment of police reveals that in Srinagar stone pelting and law and order incidents have gone down to a satisfactory level. “Compared to the graph of previous years, Srinagar has shown a tremendous shift and is a peaceful district of Kashmir,” said sources privy to the official figures of stone pelting incidents in Srinagar since 2016.
Similarly, militant recruitment too has gone down in Kashmir, from the recruitment of 30 militants in April 2018, only 23 boys have picked up arms this year so far which reflects the change of mindset of youth. “Families have played a significant role in keeping their wards away from.gun,” said sources in police.
The militant recruitment and stone pelting hubs that include South Kashmir districts of Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam and Shopian, very few youth have picked up arms this year so far while as number stone pelting incidents have shown a massive decline.
Similarly, sources told KNO that the north Kashmir districts too have shown a satisfactory trend on law and order fronts and militant recruitment except the cases of two teenage militants who joined from Hajin in Bandipora area in February this year and later got killed. Police officers said that more challenging now was to make peace a permanent feature and efforts are on towards that front too.(KNO)
