Speeding vehicle hit their bike, driver fled from spot
Baramulla: In a tragic road mishap a Special Police Officer (SPO) of Baramulla Police, who was on way to attend duty at District Police Lines (DPL) Baramulla, was killed while as his another colleague was injured when a speeding car of a sikh pilgrim on way to Parinpila Uri hit their bike on Srinagar-Muzzafarabad highway at Weervan near 53 RCC Beacon plant on Sunday Witnesses said that a speeding Maruti Alto 800 car bearing registration number JK05F-4668 on way to Uri hit a bike bearing number JK016-0304 and injured two bike riders and one of them critically.
The injured were identified as Shapoor Aijaz Wani alais Shaheen son of Ghulam Hussan Wani and Bilal Ahmad Maliki son of Mohmmad Yousuf residents of Zandafran Zam Zampora Sheeri Baramulla who are both Special Police Officer (SPO) of Baramulla Police and were on way to attend their duties at District Police Lines Baramulla.
Both the injured were referred to District Hospital Baramulla for treatment where from doctors referred Shapoor Aijaz wani who sustained critical head injuries to SKIMS Soura for advance treatment. Aijaz succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS Soura, a family confirmed said.
The family members allege that it is a hit and run case as driver of the vehicle who was a young sikh boy fled from the spot leaving the vehicle on spot and the accused driver is absconding.
Meanwhile, police has seized the vehicle and started investigation and a case under FIR number 55 of 019 under 279, 304 A RPC has been registered in police station Baramulla.
