Srinagar: In view of improved weather from past two days over 1,000 tankers carrying petroleum products has reached the Kashmir Valley on Sunday.
Officials said that as weather improved, the Srinagar-Jammu highway was open for traffic.
They said around 1,000 vehicles carrying essential supplies were allowed to ply on the Jammu-Srinagar highway.
“Apart from petroleum products, around 4,000 trucks carrying fresh vegetables, mutton, poultry products and other essential commodities, are expected to reach later today”, said an official.
Over past two months Srinagar-Jammu highway has been frequently closed due to inclement weather.
The closure of highway resulted in shortage of essential commodities and also in price hike which made consumers to suffer.
