Accused, a Kashmiri arrested within 2 hours of blast, was tasked by Hizb commander from Kulgam: IGP Jammu
Jammu, March 07 : A civilian from Uttrakhand state of India was killed while as 31 others sustained injuries, three of them critical after a grenade was lobbed at the busy bus stand of Jammu on Thursday.
Interestingly, the accused was arrested just within three hours of the incident after police shared Close Circuit Television set grabs of a suspect.
A grenade was lobbed at the Jammu bus stand which exploded with a bang creating panic in the area. The injured, according to witnesses, were immediately removed to the hospital where one identified as Muhammad Shahid son of Intezar, a resident of Haridwar, Uttrakhand.
Police launched a massive search for the accused and claimed that after successful scrutiny of the CCTV footages the accused was nabbed.
Addressing press conference at Jammu, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) said that the grenade was lobbed from outside of the stand and rolled towards the bus. “The injured have been shifted to GMC Jammu,” he said.
He said that soon after the incident a parallel teams were constituted to probe the case. He said statements of eye witnesses were recorded and search was launched. “We checked the CCTV footages and shared grabs a suspect with all the police stations explaining the nature of the dress worn by the suspect,” the IG said.

tool plaza apprehended one suspect who was later identified as Yaseen
Javaid Bhat son of Javaid Ahmed Bhat, of Khanpora, Dachin, Kulgam.
“During
the interrogation, he accepted the crime and revealed that he was
tasked to lob a grenade by Hizbul Mujahideen commander for Kulgam
district Farooq Ahmed Bhat alias Umar,” the IGP said.
“Yaseen had reached Jammu today morning
and was planning to flee back.” Meanwhile, Governor J&K Satya Pal
Malik has announced ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh rupees to the next of kin of
the deceased and Rs 20000 for the injured.(KNO)
