Srinagar, February 21 : National Conference (NC) Vice President and former chief minister, Omar Abdullah Thursday criticized Government of India for keeping a ‘criminal silence’ over the ‘harassment of Kashmiris’ in mainland India post deadly Pulwama attack.
“Kashmiris including students, traders and others were targeted systematically but the PM Modi has maintained silence over it,” Omar said while addressing a presser.
Omar said that PM Modi has made a statement claiming those criticizing the train will be punished but failed to utter a single word over the attacks on Kashmiris since last Thursday.
“I fail to understand the priories of PM
Modi,” he said, adding that in the past when such kind of situation
took place, the then Prime Minister himself came on National TV and
urged for maintaining calm.
Meanwhile, Omar said the party would
move to court in case the decision to withdraw security cover of
mainstream politicians is not revisited.
He said withdrawing security from pro-freedom was the decision of government, that is upto them to decided what they have to do but “as I have also mentioned it in a tweet that decision to withdraw security from mainstream politicians must be revisited.”
Omar added the decision in no doubt has been taken without taking in to consideration inputs from central and intelligence agencies. “Likely or unlikely, the government has to ensure security to the mainstream politicians,” he added.(KNO)
