Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police evacuated 22 families from an avalanche prone area in Gund of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district to safer places after heavy snowfall.
A police official told that in view of the heavy snowfall and apprehension of snow avalanche at Khan Mohalla in Gund in Ganderbal District, police launched an evacuation process under the supervision of SDPO Kangan Tahir Ahmad and after strenuous efforts police evacuated 22 families consisting of 124 members to safer locations.
He said that the affected families were shifted to nearby village.
Meanwhile SDM Kangan issued advisory to General Public of Kangan.
Officials said that In view of inclement weather conditions and continuous snowfall, all vehicles playing on Kangan to Gagangeer and Kangan to Wangth Narnanagh and Chatergul areas should use anti-skit chain kits for travel
He further advised people not to venture out in the avalanche prone areas of the sub Division.
