Srinagar 25 June: A complete shutdown was observed on Monday across the Kashmir valley against continuing civilian killings in Kashmir.
Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik, who called the protest, were detained. Mirwaiz and Geelani were put under house arrest, and Malik was taken into police custody.
According to reports reached to Kashmir News Bureau, that all businesses, markets, schools and colleges were shut across the Kashmir valley amid heavy deployment of police and CRPF personnel in sensitive areas of old Srinagar.
Rail services between Baramulla and Banihal towns have been suspended as a precautionary measure.
Internet services have also been suspended in south Kashmir areas.
Pertinently top LeT commander including two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces while another caught alive in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday.
A civilian identified as Yawar Ahmad Dar of Gassipora was also killed in firing allegedly by security forces, who came under attack from stone-pelting locals near the encounter site. (KNB)
