Ganderbal, 15 April: A spontaneous shutdown was observed in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district after the news about the death of Amir Ahmad Lone who was injured on April 3 in police action during clashes in Kangan and succumbed to his injuries early today morning.
The shopkeepers downed their shutters while the public transport remained off the roads.
Amir Hamid Lone (22) son of Abdul Hamid Lone, a resident of Chuturgul Kangan was critically injured in Kangan clashes which erupted after another youth Gowhar Ahmad Rather died at SKIMS in first week of April after battling for life for 12 days at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the institute.
The body of Amir has reached to his native village Chuturgul Kangan. Locals said that after the news spread in the area a pal of gloom draped the whole neighborhood with people staging massive anti-India and pro-freedom protests. The protests were going on when reports last came in.
