Srinagar, March 27:Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) Chief, Mehmood Shah has strongly condemned the statement by the principal of Ancillary Medical Training (AMT) school wherein she has directed the students not to wear Abaya or cover face during their duty hours.
“Pardah is obligatory upon Muslim women,” LeT spokesperson, Dr Abdullah Ghaznavi in a statement, quoted Mehmood Shah as saying.
“(The Principal) Razia Mahmood cannot alter the Islamic teachings for mere worldly benefits. It is in person’s own interest if they abide by the teachings of Islam.”
“The world has admitted the fact that women with Pardah are more safe and glorified in the society. Islam instructs women to conceal their adornment. There is nothing against the principles of Islam,” he said.
Lashkar chief said that Pardah is not only a vital part of Islamic principles but also of Kashmiri cultural values. “As long as the infection is concerned, it is mere an imagination and has no medical background. If it is taken as a practical justification, then no surgeon will ever put on masks on their heads, face and body. The scholars of Islam must play their proactive role in the issue,” Mehmood Shah said. (GNS)
