19 MAR 2018, GANDERBAL: To effectively motivate and provide a platform to traders and give impetus to normalcy, a “TRADERS MELA” was conducted at Manigam, Ganderbal.The event hosted more than 600 men, women and children of the Ganderbal District.
The Mela incorpated shops by various traders. Stalls were established by the “Agriculture Department, Khadi Bhandar, Carpenters, Carpet weavers, Shawls makers, Leather apparel manufacturers, Utensil traders, Electronics, etc.“ An Aadhar awareness counter and a SBI counter was also established.
A Medical camp was also established which addressed health related issues of people from far flung areas. Specialist doctors from local hospitals were also incorporated. A total of 240 patients were treated.
Cultural programme on “Kashmiriyat” was conducted, in which participants of various schools presented folk songs, hindi songs, dances and skits. Fun Park for children, volleyball court for the youth and ‘Mobile Chinar 9 Jawan Club’ were also placed.
The event was successful and the attendees appreciated the initiative. Prizes were distributed to participants in various culture programmes and sports events.
This gesture of the Army was towards Peaceful and Progressive Kashmir.
