Srinagar, March 14: Paying glorious tribute to Mohammad Eissa Fazili, Syed Owais Shafi and Sabzaar Ahmad, who were killed in Hakura, Anantnag gunfight, Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani said our youth lay their lives “to end the age-old slavery of their nation”, putting huge responsibility on our shoulders to honour these sacrifices and take mission to its logical end.
A Hurriyat (G) statement, said that Geelani while addressing a gathering of mourners over phone said, “Eissa Fazili was very close to me, a passionate warrior and often visited my residence. His commitment with freedom mission was exemplary and served as moral precedence. He was very thoughtful about the prevailing situation and commitment with his mission was praiseworthy.”
Recalling his meetings with Fazili, Geelani said, “He often discussed the post-Burhan scenario and continuous bloodshed, plight of maimed, pellet victims, ransacking of properties, detention of youth in torture centres and excesses perpetrated by forces gave him sleepless nights. This proved a turning point for him, joined resistance movement and embraced martyrdom.”
Quoting Holy Qur’an, Hurriyat (G) chairman said, “These martyrs are alive. And do not think of those killed in Allah’s path as dead: indeed, they are alive and receive their sustenance from their Lord. They rejoice in the bounty provided by Allah.”
“We are duty bound to disassociate from those who since past seven decades are involved in genocide. We should boycott these chameleons and turncoats as they for the lust of power are bartering the blood of our budding youth,” Geelani said.
Commenting over the prevailing appalling situations, Geelani said that authorities in New Delhi are desperate to enforce their will and weaken our “just and genuine freedom movement”. He said “we have to be cautious, remain united and adopt the spirit of persistence in pursuit of cherished goal”.
Hurriyat leader said that Kashmir is a disputed state and its people are getting killed only because they are asking for their right to self-determination. “We do not want to snatch any legal part of India. We will pursue our mission till its logical conclusion,” he said.
He cautioned people about the “deceit” being played by New Delhi and its agencies saying, “Pro-freedom leaders are being denied their political space and accused forces of mercilessly killing innocent and added that Indian authorities are once again raising Ikhwan like renegade groups to harass pro-freedom leadership.”
Besides Geelani, the other leaders including Hakim Ab Rashid, Mohammad Yusuf Naqash, Yasmeen Raja, Farooq Ahmad Gotapori, Kh Firdous Wani and Sheikh Musaib addressed mourners. (GNS)
