Bhubaneswar: It’s now testing times for Aijaz Ahmed from Jammu and Kashmir as his son Suhail Aijaz, who was pursuing MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar is now missing.
Ahmed on Sunday met senior officials of Commissionerate Police seeking assistance in connection with the incident as it is over a fortnight that Suhail is untraceable.
According to reports, Suhail, a second year student at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar had left his hostel on February 9 and since then he is missing.
Suhail had informed AIIMS authorities and his friends about attending a marriage function in Chandigarh and saia that he would return on February 17.
Police Commissioner YB Khurania informed that the authorities had lodged a missing complaint after the Kashmiri student did not return to the college hostel even on February 18.
Sources said Suhail has allegedly left behind a handwritten note in his room in which he has thanked everyone and has written, “I Quit”.
“We have no information about what happened. Only after getting information from authorities, we came to know that my son is missing,” said father Ahmed.
Ahmed further said that he had last spoken to Suhail on February 7 after he had deposited some money in his account.
“We have registered a man missing entry and efforts are on to trace the student. We have recovered a note and the authorities and batchmates and friends of the student are being quizzed,” said Khurania.
Khurania further informed that the location of Kashmiri youth was last traced somewhere in Howrah.
“We are in contact with Howrah police, CID Kolkata and other senior officials and the particulars of the student have also been shared,” Khurania added.
