Medicines worth of Rs. 42226 were distributed among local patients.
To extend medical facility to poor villagers of border and far flung areas, one day Medical Civic Action Programme was organized by 116 Bn BSF under able command of Shri Om Prakash, Commandant on 5th February 2018 at remote border area of Naugam. In this medical camp, Free Medical checkup and free Medicines worth of Rs. 42226/- were provided among needy people of nearby villages. Unit paid extra efforts and arranged one Dentist, one lady doctor from 17 Inf Bde, on lady doctor from BSF HQ Baramulla and one unit doctor from 116 Bn BSF. Jointly took part in this camp. Male-259, Female-111 & children-138 total-508 were given free medical cover after prescription from these five doctors. Shri Gulam Jeelani Wani, SSP Handwara, graced the occasion as chief guest. Apart from him, Lt Col Dinakaran, Adm Commandant 17 Inf Bde with 3 officers and SDPO Handwara, SHQ Qalamabad, various representative from Media house were also present. In welcome speech Sh. Om Prakash, Commandant addressed the gathering extended sincere thanks to all for sparing time and attending this pious event specially SSP Handwara and his team plus Adm Commandant and his team, media rep and m ass level gathering of locals for their participation and assured that BSF will conduct such programmes in future on regular basis . In this programme 1200 to 1500 people of border villages have taken the medical facility. This programme will covered by local media and the function was highly appreciated by the local population of the area. Thus BSF abled to win heart & mind of local populace.
