Srinagar Feb 02: Curfew-like restrictions have been imposed on Friday to foil ‘Shopian Chalo’ called by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) against the youth killings in army firing in district Shopian.
Local sources informed Rising Kashmir that all roads leading to Shopian have been closed and nakas set up at different places to prevent people from entering Shopian town.
The state government has suspended train service in the Kashmir valley for security reasons as well.
Also internet mobile service remained suspended in Shopian and Pulwama districts for last nine days.
Many parts of Srinagar have also been put under strict restrictions today morning to thaw people from joining the proposed JRL rally at Shopian.
The District Magistrate (DM) Shopian yesterday said that restrictions have been imposed on the movement of public and transport in the territorial limits of district Shopian on Friday under Section 144 CrPC.
However, after a daredevil act of hiding for two days, JKLF Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik managed to give slip to Jammu Kashmir Police and intelligence agencies and reached Shopian today morning to lead the protest rally called by JRL.
Pertinently, five innocent have been killed by the army in Shopian in last two days.
On January 24, two local militants, Firdous Ahmad and Sameer Ahmad, were killed in gunfight while a civilian Shakir Ahmad Mir, 17, was shot dead by the forces during clashes and two girls were injured at Chaigund Audoo Shopian.
On January 27, Javed Ahmad Bhat, 20, and Suhail Javed Lone, 24, were killed by army after they (army) fired on civilian in Gawanpora village in Shopian.
On January 31, third youth identified as Rayees Ahmad Ganie, injured in army firing, succumbed to injuries.
On February 01, a 10-year-old youth, identified as, Musharraf succumbed to injuries at SKIMS, Hospital in Srinagar.
